Antioxidant vitamins are utilized to address various conditions where free radical damage plays a role. Antioxidant vitamin combinations are employed to prevent coronary heart disease, specific types of cancer, aging, and free radical damage caused by factors such as excessive exercise, illness, certain medications, air pollution, smoke, radiation, and pesticides. These vitamins help neutralize harmful free radicals, reducing their damaging effects on cells and tissues.
Used
Beta carotene is one of the carotenoids, a group of red, orange, and yellow pigments found in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Its photoprotective effects involve reducing free radicals and singlet oxygen, which are produced when porphyrin is exposed to light and air. The exact mechanism is not fully understood, but it is believed to have antioxidant effects.
Vitamin C is essential for collagen formation and tissue repair, and it plays a role in various metabolic pathways, including the synthesis of catecholamines, carnitine, and steroids. It also aids in the conversion of folic acid to folinic acid and participates in oxidation/reduction reactions.
Vitamin E protects red blood cells against hemolysis and has a protective effect against free radicals on polyunsaturated fatty acids in cell membranes. Additionally, it helps prevent the oxidation of vitamins A and C.
This preparation is usually well-tolerated. However, there may be occasional occurrences of diarrhea during treatment with beta carotene, and the skin may exhibit a slightly yellow discoloration. The side effects of vitamin A are reversible. Vitamin C and vitamin E can also lead to diarrhea and other gastrointestinal disturbances.
The antioxidant vitamin combination in Rex Tablet may have potential benefits for various health conditions and functions, including:
Beta carotene serves as a precursor to vitamin A (retinol) in this tablet. Once needed, the body converts beta carotene into vitamin A. Vitamin A, in turn, plays various essential roles in the body, including supporting the health of the retina (critical for vision), aiding in growth, tissue differentiation, and contributing to the immune response. Additionally, vitamin A is known for its anti-cancer properties, making it a vital nutrient for overall health and well-being.
This tablet is meant to be taken orally. For adults, the recommended dosage is 1 tablet of this antioxidant vitamin combination daily, or as prescribed by their doctor. It is important to follow the doctor's instructions or the recommended dosage to ensure proper intake and avoid any potential adverse effects.
Cholestyramine, Colestipol, and Neomycin are known to reduce the absorption of carotene. Long-term use of oral contraceptives containing estrogen, tetracycline, or aspirin has been found to decrease vitamin C levels in the blood. This reduction in vitamin C levels may be due to drug-induced impaired absorption or increased utilization of the vitamin for drug metabolism.
Patients with a known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
In humans, beta-carotene, vitamin C, and vitamin E have no teratogenic effects. Prescriptions to pregnant women, like any other drug, should be handled with caution.
Hypervitaminosis, which is the excessive intake of vitamins, should be avoided. Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) use should be avoided in early pregnancy. Patients on anticoagulant therapy should not use ascorbic acid for prolonged periods.
Carotene may have adverse effects on heavy smokers and alcoholics, based on some evidence. Therefore, extreme caution should be exercised in these situations.
Patients with hyperoxaluria should use vitamin C with caution.
Vitamin E should be used with caution in patients taking anticoagulant medications, as it may increase the anticoagulant activity of these medications. It is important to be cautious and seek medical advice before taking any vitamin or supplement, especially in specific medical conditions or with concurrent use of other medications.
Protect from light and moisture by storing below 30°C. Keep the medicine out of children's reach.
