Clofranil 25mg Tablet is a tricyclic antidepressant used to treat psychological conditions such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, and anxiety disorders like panic attacks. It is also used to manage muscle weakness associated with narcolepsy, a sleep disorder.
Clofranil 25mg Tablet increases the levels of chemical messengers in the brain, helping to regulate mood and treat depression.
Common side effects include altered libido, constipation, dry mouth, ejaculation disorder, sleepiness, and difficulty urinating.
Clomipramine is a potent inhibitor of serotonin re-uptake in the brain. It has significant antagonism at cholinergic and α1-receptors and weak antagonism at dopamine receptors, providing antidepressant, sedative, and anticholinergic effects.
The initial dose is 25 mg at bedtime for about a week. Gradually increase the dose, ensuring it does not exceed 150 mg per day for adults and 75 mg per day for elderly patients. The dosage can be divided to minimize gastrointestinal side effects.
Not recommended for children.
Take Clofranil 25mg Tablet with food, as advised by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose.
No adequate well-controlled studies of safety for pregnancy. Limited data suggest that clomipramine is likely to be excreted in human breast milk. Although it has known risk of damage to fetus.
