Ciclopirox Olamine is a synthetic broad-spectrum antifungal agent that inhibits the growth of pathogenic dermatophytes, yeasts, and Malassezia furfur. It exhibits fungicidal activity against various fungal isolates, including Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum canis, and Candida albicans. The mode of action involves the inhibition of essential substrates and ions uptake from the medium, leading to growth inhibition or death of fungal cells. Additionally, Ciclopirox Olamine possesses antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It also demonstrates anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandin and leukotriene, as well as inhibiting the formation of 5-lipoxygenase and cyclooxygenase in human polymorphonuclear cells.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Clopirox Shampoo

For the treatment of fungal infections of the scalp, wet hair and apply approximately 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of Ciclopirox Olamine Shampoo to the affected area. For long hair, up to 2 teaspoons (10 ml) may be used. Lather and leave the shampoo on the hair and scalp for 3 minutes, using a timer if necessary. Avoid contact with eyes. Repeat treatment twice per week for 4 weeks, with a minimum of 3 days between applications.
