G Benzyl Benzoate 25% Emulsion

G-B Benzoate is indicated for:

• Scabies
• Pediculosis pubis (pubic lice) and capitis (head lice)

Mode of Action:

Benzyl benzoate acts as an acaricide, effectively treating scabies by killing the mites responsible for the condition.

Side Effects:

• May cause irritation to the eyes and mucous membranes.
• Can lead to allergic dermatitis reactions.
• Potential for drying effects, particularly in elderly individuals.

Dosage & Administration:

• Scabies: After taking a hot bath and drying the skin, apply the medication to the entire body, excluding the head and face. A single thorough application is usually sufficient, but a second application may be done within 5 days to reduce the risk of treatment failure. Alternatively, Scabisol can be applied to the entire body, excluding the head and face, at 12-hour intervals on three occasions. After the last application, take a hot bath 12 hours later and change into clean clothes and sheets.
• Pediculosis (lice): Apply Scabisol to the affected area, then wash it off after 24 hours using soap and water. In severe cases, repeat this process two or three times. A follow-up examination should be done one week after the last treatment to confirm that the infestation has been cleared.

Use in Children:

• For older children: Dilute the solution with an equal amount of water.
• For babies: Dilute with three parts of water.

Interactions:

No hazardous interactions have been reported.

Contraindications:

• Do not use it on the face due to the risk of irritation.
• Avoid use on broken or irritated skin.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

• There is insufficient evidence regarding the safety of Benzyl Benzoate during pregnancy. It should only be used if absolutely necessary.
• Breastfeeding should be paused during treatment and can be resumed after the product has been washed off.

Precautions & Warnings:

• Benzyl Benzoate may cause mild to severe transient burning sensations, especially in sensitive individuals. In cases of severe skin reactions, wash off the product with soap and warm water.
• Protect the eyes if applying the product to the scalp to prevent irritation.

Storage Conditions:

• Store below 25°C, away from light and moisture.
• Keep out of reach of children.
