Prokind contains Propantheline Bromide, which works via two mechanisms:

Anticholinergic (antimuscarinic) effect – blocks acetylcholine receptors on smooth muscle, reducing muscle stimulation.
Direct musculotropic effect – relaxes smooth muscle directly.

This dual action reduces GI motility, decreases gastric acid secretion, and lowers pharyngeal, tracheal, and bronchial secretions. It also reduces saliva, sweat, and pancreatic juice production.

Symptoms range from intensified side effects (nausea, vomiting) to CNS changes (restlessness, psychosis), circulatory problems (flushing, low BP, circulatory collapse), respiratory failure, and paralysis.

Dose-related and usually reversible after stopping treatment. Common: dry mouth, dry skin, enlarged pupils. Others: urinary retention, nausea, vomiting, constipation, headache, nervousness, mental confusion.
