Monosulfiram solution is a parasiticide used to treat and prevent scabies caused by Sarcoptes scabiei mites.
Monosulfiram is an ectoparasitic agent effective against scabies mites.
Before application, Tetrasol® Solution should be diluted with two to three parts of water. The patient's body, excluding the face and scalp, should be washed with soap and water, dried thoroughly, and then painted with the dilute solution. After allowing about ten minutes for the skin to dry naturally, the patient can dress. This application can be repeated successively for two or three days in complex cases. These instructions apply to both adults and children.
There are no known drug interactions documented.
Tetrasol Solution should not be applied if there is a known idiosyncratic response to its application. Avoid applying the solution near a naked flame. Due to the chemical relationship between monosulfiram and disulfiram, alcohol should be abstained from before and for at least 48 hours after application.
Few side effects are reported with Tetrasol Solution. Idiosyncratic responses may include erythematous rash.
