Indications of Dancel 60 ml
Dancel Shampoo belongs to a class of medications known as antifungals. It is used to treat skin fungal infections. It kills the fungus that causes infections like athlete's foot, thrush, and ringworm. Dancel Shampoo should be used according to your doctor's instructions for dosage and duration. Malassezia (formerly Pittosporum) yeast has been linked to diseases such as pityriasis Versicolor (localized), seborrheic dermatitis, and pityriasis capitis. Ketoconazole 2 percent shampoo is used to treat and prevent Malassezia (previously known as Pityrosporum) infections (dandruff).
Pharmacology
Ketoconazole 2 percent shampoo is a broad-spectrum imidazole-dioxolane synthetic antifungal drug that alters cell membrane permeability to prevent the in vitro development of the following common dermatophytes and yeasts: Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton tonsurans, Microsporum canis, Microsporum Baudouin, Microsporum gypseum, and Epiderm (Pityrosporum orbiculare).
Dosage & Administration of Dancel 60 ml
To use the Ketoconazole 2% shampoo, follow these steps:
- Use a small amount of water to wet the area where
Ketoconazole 2% shampoo is to be applied
- Apply the shampoo to the affected skin/scalp and a large area around it
- Use fingers to rub the shampoo until it forms a lather
- Leave the shampoo on the skin/scalp for 5 minutes
- Rinse the shampoo off the skin/scalp with water
The affected areas of the skin or the scalp should be washed with ketoconazole 2% shampoo and left on for 3 to 5 minutes before rinsing.
Treatment:
Pityriasis Versicolor: once daily for 5 days.
Seborrheic dermatitis and Pityriasis capitis: twice weekly
for 2 to 4 weeks.
Prophylaxis:
Pityriasis Versicolor: once daily for 3 days during a single
treatment course before the summer.
Seborrheic dermatitis and Pityriasis capitis: once every
1 or 2 weeks.

Contraindications
In individuals who have a known hypersensitivity to ketoconazole, it is not recommended.
Side Effects of Dancel 60 ml
The use of 2% ketoconazole shampoo on the skin is typically well tolerated. A local burning sensation, itching, or contact dermatitis (owing to irritation or allergy) may develop on exposed regions, as with other shampoos. Ketoconazole shampoo 2 percent has been linked to oily and dry hair in rare cases.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy and breastfeeding are not contraindications for using ketoconazole shampoo 2% since ketoconazole is not absorbed through the skin after topical application.
Precautions & Warnings
To avoid a rebound effect in patients who have been on topical corticosteroids for a long time, the steroid medication should be gradually tapered off over 2 to 3 weeks while using ketoconazole shampoo 2%. Hair loss is frequently associated with seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff and has been observed infrequently with the use of 2% ketoconazole shampoo. Avoid making direct eye contact. If the shampoo gets into your eyes, thoroughly rinse them with water.
