Pharmacology
Ginkgo biloba inhibits the binding of platelet-activating factor (PAF) to platelets, resulting in inhibition of platelet aggregation and increased blood fluidity; reduces thrombosis, improves cognition, working memory, short-term visual memory in people with dementia, short-term memory in people with brain failure, social functioning in people with dementia, ability to concentrate average in people with dementia, attention in people with dementia, tinnitus in people with dementia, active daily life (ADL) scores in people under 60, mood and sleep in the elderly.
Dosage & Administration
1 or 2 capsules 2 to 3 times daily or as advised by the physician.
Contraindications
Ginkgo should only be used with caution in patients taking anticoagulants or antiplatelet agents, i.e. warfarin, heparin, and aspirin. It is also contraindicated in bleeding disorders due to the increased bleeding potential associated with chronic use (612 months) or prior to elective surgery. Contraindicated in patients with known risk factors for intracerebral hemorrhage. There are no known restrictions on the use of ginkgo during pregnancy and lactation.
Side Effects
There are no side effects after using the prescribed therapeutic dose. In integrated clinical trials with 10,000 patients, the incidence of side effects caused by ginkgo extract was extremely low. Rare cases of headache, dizziness, nervousness, gastrointestinal disturbances, bleeding disorders, and skin hypersensitivity reactions. Rare cases of stomach or intestinal disturbances, headaches, or allergic skin reactions have been reported. At doses higher than recommended, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, restlessness, and weakness may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Ginkgo biloba is not recommended for use during pregnancy. It is not known whether this product passes into breast milk. Due to the possible risk to the infant, breastfeeding while using this product is not recommended.
Precautions & Warnings
Before taking this product, tell your doctor if you are allergic to it, if you have any bleeding problems, seizures, convulsions or seizures. Ginkgo biloba might decrease blood clotting. Stop taking this product at least 2 weeks before surgery
Storage Conditions
Ginkgo Biloba Capsule should be kept below 30°C temperature, away from light & moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
