✔️ Semaglutide 0.25mg Subcutaneous Injection is indicated for:

• Lowering blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
• Preventing serious diabetes-related complications such as kidney damage and blindness.
• Reducing the risk of heart attack or stroke in people with type 2 diabetes.

✔️ Pharmacology

Semaglutide 0.25mg Subcutaneous Injection contains Semaglutide, a GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonist. GLP-1 agonists help to:

✔️ Risk of Hypoglycemia

• Particularly when used with insulin or sulfonylureas. To mitigate risk, have regular meals and carry a fast-acting source of glucose.

✔️ Dosage:

Adult Dose for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus:

• Initial Dose: 0.25 mg subcutaneously once weekly for the first 4 weeks.
• Maintenance Dose:
  • Increase to 0.5 mg once weekly after the initial 4 weeks.
  • If glycemic control is not achieved with 0.5 mg, increase to 1 mg once weekly after at least 4 weeks on the 0.5 mg dose.

Hepatic Impairment: No dosage adjustment is required.

Child Dose:

• <18 years: Safety and efficacy not established.

Renal Dose:

• Renal Impairment: No dosage adjustment is required.

✔️ Administration:

• Inject subcutaneously in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm.
• Administer at any time of the day, with or without meals.
• If a dose is missed, administer it within 5 days. If more than 5 days have passed, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule.

• 0.25 mg Injection: Each pre-filled syringe contains Semaglutide 0.25 mg in 0.5 ml solution.
• 0.50 mg Injection: Each pre-filled syringe contains Semaglutide 0.50 mg in 0.5 ml solution.
• 1 mg Injection: Each pre-filled syringe contains Semaglutide 1 mg in 0.5 ml solution.
• 1.7 mg Injection: Each pre-filled syringe contains Semaglutide 1.7 mg in 0.75 ml solution.
• 2.4 mg Injection: Each pre-filled syringe contains Semaglutide 2.4 mg in 0.75 ml solution.

• Enhances Glucose-Dependent Insulin Secretion: By activating GLP-1 receptors on pancreatic beta cells, Semaglutide stimulates insulin secretion in response to elevated blood glucose levels.
• Suppresses Elevated Glucagon Secretion: Semaglutide reduces the secretion of glucagon from pancreatic alpha cells, which helps lower blood glucose levels by reducing hepatic glucose production.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Diabetic Ketoacidosis: Not suitable for patients with type 1 diabetes or those with diabetic ketoacidosis.
• Pancreatitis: Discontinue use if pancreatitis is suspected.
• Gastrointestinal Issues: Use with caution in patients with a history of severe gastrointestinal disease.
• Hypoglycemia: Increased risk when used with insulin or sulfonylureas.
