✔️ Uses of Diapro MR 60mg Tablet

• Type II Diabetes Mellitus

✔️ Side Effects of Gliclazide Tablet

Common side effects:

• Vaginal infection (e.g., vaginal thrush)
• Sore throat, nasal congestion, cough
• Increased urination frequency
• Increased urge to urinate
• Skin rash or itching
• Elevated amylase/lipase levels in the blood
• Thirst
• Constipation

Uncommon side effects:

• Pain or strain during urination
• Changes in blood fat levels
• Increased red blood cell count
• Kidney problems

Rare side effects:

• Sore mouth

✔️ Serious side effects (seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following):

• Severe hypoglycemia (e.g., increased sweating, shaking, anxiety, blurred vision, hunger, headache, mood changes, confusion)
• Severe allergic reactions (e.g., hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, throat causing breathing or swallowing difficulties)
• Severe skin reactions (e.g., redness, blistering)
• Pancreatitis (e.g., severe persistent stomach pain radiating to the back, nausea, vomiting)
• Diabetic ketoacidosis (e.g., nausea, vomiting, sudden weight loss, stomach pain, excessive thirst, fast and deep breathing, confusion, unusual sleepiness or tiredness, sweet breath odor, metallic taste, smelly urine or sweat)
• Kidney or urinary tract infections (e.g., burning sensation during urination, mid-back or pelvic pain, cloudy urine, urge to urinate)
• Fournier’s gangrene (e.g., pain, tenderness, redness, swelling of the genitals or area between the genitals and anus with fever or general weakness)
• Dehydration (e.g., excessive thirst, dizziness upon standing, fainting)

✔️ Administration Instructions

• Take Diapro MR 60mg Tablet as prescribed by your doctor.
• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
• Do not crush or chew the tablet.
• It can be taken with or without meals.
• Follow your doctor’s dosage and duration instructions strictly.
• Do not stop taking the medication without consulting your doctor.

✔️ In case of overdose:

• Contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.

✔️ Combination Therapy:

• With Other Medications: If combined with metformin, alpha-glucosidase inhibitors, thiazolidinediones, dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors, GLP-1 receptor agonists, or insulin, the doctor will determine the proper dose of each medication.
• High Blood Sugar Levels: Contact your doctor or pharmacist if blood sugar levels remain high despite following the prescribed regimen.

✔️ Before taking Diapro MR 60mg Tablet, inform your doctor if you are taking:

• Other diabetes medications (e.g., glimepiride, glyburide, gliclazide, rosiglitazone, pioglitazone, insulin).
• Epilepsy medications (e.g., carbamazepine, phenytoin).
• Diuretics for edema or hypertension (e.g., furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide).
• Lithium for mental health conditions.
• Rifampicin for tuberculosis.

✔️ Discontinuation:

• Long-Term Treatment: As diabetes treatment is usually lifelong, discuss with your doctor before stopping the medication.
• Risks of Stopping: Discontinuing could lead to high blood sugar (hyperglycemia) and increase the risk of diabetes complications.
• Further Questions: Consult your doctor or pharmacist for any additional questions regarding the use of this product.

✔️ Missed Dose:

• It is crucial to take your medication daily for effective treatment.
• Take the next dose at the usual time. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.

✔️ Film-Coated Tablet:

• Initial Dose: 40 to 80 mg daily.
• Maximum Dose: Up to 320 mg daily, divided into doses as needed.
• Administration: Take before meals.
• Pediatric Use: Not used for children due to contraindications in juvenile-onset diabetes.

✔️ Modified Release (MR) Preparation:

• Dosage Instructions: Follow the doctor’s or pharmacist’s instructions exactly.
• Dose Determination: Based on blood and possibly urine sugar levels, adjusted for weight reduction, lifestyle, stress, or improved blood sugar control.
• Recommended Daily Dose: One to four tablets (maximum 120 mg) taken once at breakfast.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Gliclazide is not recommended for use during pregnancy. If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine. You must not take Gliclazide while you are breastfeeding.

✔️ Storage Conditions:

Store below 30°C. Keep out of the reach and sight of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and the blister.
