✅ Description:
Omarigliptin is a long-acting inhibitor of the enzyme Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 (DPP-4). DPP-4 breaks down incretin hormones, which play a key role in regulating blood glucose by stimulating insulin release and reducing glucagon secretion after meals. By inhibiting DPP-4, Omarigliptin enhances the activity of incretin hormones, helping to maintain proper blood sugar levels.

✔️ Dosage & Administration
Route: Oral
Recommended Dose: 25 mg once weekly, either alone or in combination with other anti-diabetic medications, to optimize blood sugar control.
Missed Dose: Take the missed dose as soon as possible and continue the regular weekly schedule. Do not double the dose.
Renal Impairment:
Severe kidney failure or end-stage renal disease:
Men (CrCl > 1.9): 12.5 mg once weekly
Women (CrCl > 1.4): 12.5 mg once weekly
Children & Adolescents: Safety and effectiveness have not been established.
✔️ Marzev is generally well tolerated. Common side effects may include:
- Nasopharyngitis
- Hypoglycemia
- Constipation or diarrhea
- Gastrointestinal discomfort
- Skin or subcutaneous tissue reactions
✔️ Drug Interactions
Marzev may interact with medications such as metformin, glimepiride, oral contraceptives, and atorvastatin. Use caution when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas due to the risk of low blood sugar. Certain medications may increase or decrease Marzev’s effect, so blood glucose should be monitored carefully.
✔️ Marzev should not be used by patients with:
- Known allergy to omarigliptin or any of its components
- Severe ketosis, diabetic coma, or pre-coma (type 1 diabetes)
- Severe infection, trauma, or during surgery, where insulin therapy is required
✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation
There is limited data on the use of Omarigliptin during pregnancy. Use only if the benefits outweigh potential risks. Breastfeeding is not recommended while taking this medication.

Use Marzev cautiously in individuals with conditions that may increase the risk of low blood sugar, such as:
- Hormonal disorders (e.g., adrenal insufficiency, pituitary dysfunction)
- Malnutrition or irregular dietary intake
- Excessive alcohol consumption
- Elderly patients or those engaging in activities requiring alertness (e.g., driving, operating machinery)
