VivaChek™ Ino blood glucose test strips are thin strips containing a reagent system that works with the VivaChek™ Ino blood glucose meter to measure glucose concentration in freshly drawn whole capillary blood. These strips use an electrical current generated by the reaction of glucose with a reagent on the strip's electrode. The blood sample is drawn into the strip by capillary action, and glucose reacts with the enzyme and mediator on the strip, producing electrons and generating a current proportional to the glucose concentration. The meter displays the glucose concentration, calibrated to plasma concentrations, in the sample.
The VivaChek™ Ino Blood Glucose Test Strips and Meter are intended for self-monitoring or by healthcare professionals to monitor diabetes control but cannot diagnose diabetes. Each strip contains glucose oxidase and a mediator, and storage and care instructions include storing the strips at specified temperatures and humidity levels, not refrigerating or freezing them, and discarding expired or damaged strips. Blood glucose testing involves selecting a puncture site, preparing the lancing device, and following instructions for inserting the strip, applying blood, and reading the results. The system can use blood samples from alternative sites, but fingertip blood is recommended for certain situations, and blood glucose targets are provided for adults.
It is primarily used for self-testing the blood sample and helps to track one's blood glucose and observe how the treatment program affects the blood glucose level.
