Composition of Emobac Lotion

Each gram of lotion contains:

• Liquid Paraffin BP: 25 mg
• Benzalkonium Chloride USP: 1 mg
• Chlorhexidine Hydrochloride BP: 1 mg
• Isopropyl Myristate BP: 25 mg

How Emobac Lotion Works

Emobac Lotion contains two active ingredient types:

• Benzalkonium Chloride and Chlorhexidine Dihydrochloride: These antimicrobials combat skin bacteria that may worsen eczema and help prevent infections from scratching itchy skin.
• Liquid Paraffin and Isopropyl Myristate: These emollients soften, moisturize, and protect the skin by trapping moisture, restoring the skin's protective function, and preventing the drying effects of washing and typical cleansing products.

The lotion can be used alongside other emollients or treatments prescribed by your doctor.

Side Effects of Emobac Lotion

Like all medications, Emobac Lotion may cause side effects, though not everyone experiences them. Seek urgent medical help if you encounter:

• Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
• An unusual, sudden itchy rash (hives) away from the application site
• Wheezing or difficulty breathing
• Dizziness or fainting
• A metallic taste in your mouth
• Signs of a severe allergic reaction

Rarely, the lotion may cause skin reactions (redness, irritation, or itching) at the application site, especially with excessive use in folded skin areas.

Renal Dose

No dosage adjustment is needed for renal impairment.

Pharmacology

Emobac Lotion contains two types of active ingredients:

Benzalkonium Chloride and Chlorhexidine Dihydrochloride: These are antimicrobial agents that help:

• Combat bacteria on the skin that can exacerbate eczema.
• Prevent infections from scratching itchy skin.

Liquid Paraffin and Isopropyl Myristate: These are emollients that help:

• Soften, moisturize, and protect the skin by trapping moisture and restoring its natural barrier.
• Mitigate drying and irritating effects from washing, bathing, and regular soaps or cleansing products.

Emobac can be used alongside other emollients or treatments prescribed by your doctor for dry skin conditions.

Dosage of Emobac Lotion

Adults, Children, and the Elderly:

• Application: Apply the lotion to affected areas as needed. Massage gently until absorbed.
• As a Soap Substitute: Use in the bath or shower instead of regular soap or shower gel.

Administration of Emobac Lotion

• Use only on the skin.
• For best results, apply regularly as needed.
• To unlock the 500 ml bottle, turn the pump dispenser counterclockwise. Prime the pump by pressing it several times before the first use. This applies to all age groups.

For Leave-On Application:

• Apply to affected areas and smooth into the skin without vigorous rubbing. Reapply as often as necessary.

For Soap Substitute:

• Use the lotion for washing instead of regular soap or shower gel, noting that it won’t foam like traditional products.
• After bathing, pat the skin dry with a soft towel to avoid further irritation.

Interaction

Emobac is not known to interact with other medications.

Contraindications

Do not use this lotion if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to benzalkonium chloride, chlorhexidine dihydrochloride, liquid paraffin, isopropyl myristate, or any other ingredients in the lotion.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Emobac can be used during pregnancy and while breastfeeding, as its ingredients have been in common use for many years without reported issues. However, no specific safety trials have been conducted.

Precautions & Warnings

• Severe allergic reactions are possible. Very rare cases have reported drops in blood pressure and unconsciousness linked to chlorhexidine products. Avoid using this lotion if you have had previous reactions to such products.
• Do not smoke or be near open flames; Emobac can increase fire risk.
• Test the product on a small area first, especially for those with sensitive skin or when treating the face of young children.
• Avoid contact with the eyes.
• Be cautious of slippery surfaces when using Emobac as a soap substitute.
• Cetostearyl alcohol may cause local skin reactions; consult a doctor if you have a history of such reactions.

Store in a cool, dry place, away from light, and at temperatures not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children. For external use only
