Halobet Cream contains Halobetasol, a corticosteroid that works by penetrating skin cells and blocking the release of chemical messengers responsible for skin reactions like redness, itching, and swelling during allergic or inflammatory responses.
Halobet Cream is primarily used to manage various skin conditions such as itching, redness, irritation, and inflammation, commonly caused by plaque psoriasis (characterized by scaly, itchy, and dry patches) or other inflammatory skin disorders. Inflammatory reactions in the skin occur due to the release of certain chemicals that cause blood vessels to expand, resulting in itching, redness, pain, and swelling.
Consult a doctor before consuming alcohol while using Halobet Cream.
m is a Category C pregnancy drug and is given to a pregnant woman only if the doctor thinks the benefits outweigh the risks.
The excretion of Halobet Cream in human milk is unknown and is given to a breastfeeding mother only if the doctor thinks the benefits outweigh the risks. However, if prescribed by a doctor, do not apply Halobet Cream on the breast
Halobet Cream usually does not affect your ability to drive or operate machinery.
If you have any concerns about using Halobet Cream in patients with kidney problems, please consult a doctor.
If you have any concerns regarding the use of Halobet Cream in patients with liver problems, please consult a doctor.
Halobetasol Propionate
Halobet works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen, and itchy.
Some common side effects include:
These side effects are generally mild and tend to resolve over time. However, if they persist or worsen, it's important to consult a healthcare provider.
Halobet 0.05% Cream is a steroid that helps reduce swelling, itching, redness, and irritation caused by plaque psoriasis (scales and itchy, dry patches), dermatitis (itchy, swelling of the skin), eczema (itchy, cracked, swollen, or rough skin) or other inflammatory skin conditions.
Halobetasol propionate, like other topical corticosteroids, possesses anti-inflammatory, antipruritic (anti-itch), and vasoconstrictive properties. The exact mechanism of its anti-inflammatory effects is unclear. However, corticosteroids are believed to work by inducing proteins called lipocortins, which inhibit phospholipase A2. This enzyme normally releases arachidonic acid from membrane phospholipids, which then leads to the formation of inflammatory mediators like prostaglandins and leukotrienes. Halobetasol prevents this release, reducing inflammation.
If you have diabetes, liver disease, adrenal gland disorder, or any skin infection, inform your doctor before using Halobet Cream.
Halobetasol Propionate Cream or Ointment is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to any preparation component.
Topical corticosteroids should only be used during pregnancy if the potential benefit outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. It is not known if topical corticosteroids are absorbed systemically in sufficient quantities to be detected in breast milk, so caution is advised when administering this medication to breastfeeding women.
Systemic absorption of topical corticosteroids can lead to reversible suppression of the HPA axis, which may result in Cushing's syndrome, elevated blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia), and glucose in the urine (glucosuria). Patients using large amounts of potent steroids over a large area of skin or with occlusive dressings should be monitored periodically for HPA axis suppression, using urinary-free cortisol and ACTH stimulation tests. If suppression occurs, the treatment should be reduced, frequency lowered, or a less potent corticosteroid should be substituted.
