Pharmacology
This tablet is a preparation of Loratadine. Loratadine is a hypoallergenic histamine Hr receptor antagonist with antiallergic properties. Loratadine is a long-acting tricyclic antihistamine with selective peripheral receptor antagonist activity and without central sedative or anticholinergic effect. It has a rapid and lasting effect, allowing a single administration.
Dosage & Administration
Adult & Child over 6 years : 10 mg once daily.
Child 2-5 years : 5 mg once daily.
Child below 2 years : Safety and efficacy has not been established.
Interaction
When administered concurrently with alcohol, Loratadine has no potentiating effect as measured by psychomotor performance studies. Interaction with other drugs has not been reported.
Contraindications
Lorin (Loratadine) is contraindicated in patients who have severe hypersensitivity or idiosyncrasy to its components.
Side Effects
Fatigue, nausea, and headache were rarely reported. The incidence of sedation and antimuscarinic effects were low.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Lorin (Loratadine) should not be used during pregnancy and Lactation.
Precautions & Warnings
Antihistamines should be used with caution in hepatic disease and dose reduction may be necessary for renal impairment. Caution may be required in epilepsy. It should be used with caution in urinary retention, glaucoma, and pylori duodenal obstruction.
