Etnol is indicated for:
Hypertension — as monotherapy or combined with other antihypertensives (particularly thiazide diuretics).
Long-term management of angina pectoris.
Acute myocardial infarction (hemodynamically stable patients) — to reduce cardiovascular mortality.
Atenolol is a β1-selective (cardioselective) beta-blocker with no partial agonist or membrane-stabilizing activity.
It primarily blocks cardiac β1-receptors, with minimal penetration of cell membranes due to high hydrophilicity.
Reduces heart rate, myocardial contractility, and cardiac output, lowering blood pressure and oxygen demand.
Hypertension:
Angina Pectoris:
Acute Myocardial Infarction:
Start IV: 5 mg over 5 minutes, followed by another 5 mg after 10 minutes.
Then initiate oral Atenolol 50 mg, followed by 50 mg 12 hours later.
Maintenance: 100 mg once daily or 50 mg twice daily for 6–9 days or until hospital discharge.
Discontinue if bradycardia, hypotension, or other adverse effects occur.

CrCl <15 mL/min/1.73 m²: max 25 mg/day
Monitor elderly patients closely; start at low doses due to decreased renal, hepatic, or cardiac function.
May aggravate peripheral arterial circulatory disorders.
Pregnancy Category D — use with caution.
Lactation: may cause bradycardia in breastfed infants; avoid in premature or renal-impaired infants.
