Anxiety is an emotion that is characterized by feelings of tension, worried and intrusive thoughts, and physical changes like increased blood pressure, sweating, trembling, and dizziness. Your doctor might ask you to make some lifestyle changes such as having healthy sleeping and eating habits, managing stress, and meditation.
Lozicum 1 contains Lorazepam which belongs to the group of medicines called Antianxiety agents. It is used to manage anxiety or sleeping difficulties due to anxiety which significantly affects routine life. Lozicum 1 can also be used as a sedative before any operative dental management or surgery.
Lozicum 1 is not recommended for use in patients having lung or liver diseases, myasthenia gravis (very weak or tired muscles), and sleep apnoea (breathing problems while sleeping). It should be used with caution in patients who have kidney diseases, habitual excessive use of drugs or alcohol, personality disorders, depression, history of psychotic illness, history of convulsions, and glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye).
Lozicum 1 should be used with caution in pregnant women. Lozicum 1 is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Lozicum 1 should be used with caution in elderly patients. Lozicum 1 should not be used in children below 5 years of age.
Consuming alcohol with Lozicum 1 is unsafe.
Lozicum 1 is unsafe to use during pregnancy due to definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, it may be prescribed in life-threatening situations if the benefits outweigh the risks.
Lozicum 1 is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggest that it may pass into breast milk and harm the baby. Use for short periods and monitor the baby for sleepiness. Gradual withdrawal is recommended.
Lozicum 1 may decrease alertness, affect vision, or cause sleepiness and dizziness. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Use with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed. Consult your doctor.
Use with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed. Use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
Lozicum 1 is a benzodiazepine. It works by increasing the action of a chemical messenger (GABA), which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of nerve cells in the brain.
Lorazepam is a short-acting tranquilizer of the benzodiazepine group. It is an agonist at benzodiazepine receptors in the CNS. It exerts a depressant action on the CNS, which may be mediated by potentiating the inhibitory actions of GABA (gamma amino butyric acid) in the CNS. This will result in a diminution of the ascending activating systems, particularly the serotonergic and noradrenergic pathways from the brain stem or the mid-brain to the cerebral cortex.

Child Dose:
Safety of Lorazepam in pregnancy has not been established. Because the use of this drug is rarely a matter of urgency, the use of Lorazepam during this period should almost always be avoided.
It is not known whether oral Lorazepam is excreted in human milk like other benzodiazepine tranquilizers. As a general rule, nursing should not be undertaken while a patient is on a drug since many drugs are excreted in human milk.
