✅ Description:
Xofyl 200 mg is used for:
- Asthma – to prevent and manage symptoms
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) – to improve airflow and ease breathing
Adults:
- Conventional tablet: 400 mg, 1–3 times daily
- Sustained-release tablet: 400 mg once daily (evening preferred to reduce nighttime symptoms)
- Dosages up to 1200 mg/day may be prescribed depending on disease severity
- Elderly patients may require a lower dose
Children:
12 years: 200 mg tablet, 2–3 times daily or syrup 10 ml, 2–3 times daily
<12 years: 6 mg/kg twice daily, may be increased up to 9 mg/kg twice daily under supervision

✔️ Administration Tips: Xofyl 200
- Take at the same time each day, preferably in the evening after food
- Can be taken with or without food
- Swallow tablets whole; do not chew, crush, or break
- Does not relieve acute breathing problems – always keep a fast-acting rescue inhaler
✔️ Side Effects of Xofyl 200
Common:
- Nausea, vomiting, stomach upset
- Headache, restlessness, insomnia
- Fast heartbeat (tachycardia), rapid breathing (tachypnea)
Serious / Rare:
- Severe arrhythmias or seizures may indicate overdose
- Lower doses may be reintroduced only under medical supervision

- Other xanthine derivatives, ephedrine
- Certain antibiotics: erythromycin, troleandomycin, lincomycin, clindamycin
- Phenytoin and other anticonvulsants
- Allopurinol, cimetidine, ranitidine, propranolol
- Flu vaccine
✔️ Do not use Xofyl 200 if you:
- Are allergic to Doxofylline or its components
- Have acute myocardial infarction or hypotension
- Are breastfeeding

Use caution if you have liver or kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, hypoxemia, peptic ulcers, or congestive heart failure
Smoking and alcohol may affect the drug’s effectiveness
Avoid excessive caffeine (coffee, tea, chocolate) as it may worsen side effects
