Dosage & Administration of Valex CR 200mg Tablet

Adult Dosage

1. Complex Partial Seizures:

• Initial Dose: 10-15 mg/kg/day.
• Titration: Increase by 5-10 mg/kg/day at weekly intervals.
• Maximum Dose: Up to 60 mg/kg/day.

2. Simple & Complex Absence Seizures:

• Initial Dose: 15 mg/kg/day, divided every 6-12 hours.
• Titration: Increase by 5-10 mg/kg/day at weekly intervals.
• Maximum Dose: Up to 60 mg/kg/day.

3. Migraine Prophylaxis:

• Initial Dose: 250 mg twice daily.
• Adjustment: Adjust based on clinical response.
• Maximum Dose: 1000 mg/day.

4. Bipolar Mania:

• Initial Dose: 750 mg/day in divided doses.
• Adjustment: Adjust dose as rapidly as possible to achieve a desired therapeutic effect.
• Maximum Dose: 60 mg/kg/day.

Hepatic Impairment:

• Dose Adjustment: Administer lower doses.
• Contraindication: Contraindicated in severe hepatic impairment.

Pediatric Dosage

1. Complex Partial Seizures:

• >10 years:
