Voriconazole, the active ingredient in Candicon, is a triazole antifungal agent. It works by blocking the CYP450-dependent 14-alpha sterol demethylase enzyme, which is essential for producing ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes. By depleting ergosterol, it disrupts cell membrane integrity and inhibits fungal growth.

✅ Description:
Candicon is an azole-class antifungal medicine recommended for patients aged 12 years and above. It is used to treat a range of serious fungal infections, including:
- Invasive aspergillosis
- Candidemia (in non-neutropenic patients) and widespread candidiasis affecting the skin, abdomen, kidneys, bladder wall, and wound sites
- Esophageal candidiasis
- Severe infections due to Scedosporium apiospermum and Fusarium species, including Fusarium solani
- For patients who cannot tolerate or do not respond to alternative antifungal therapies

✔️ Dosage & Administration | Candicon Oral Suspension
Take Candicon tablets or oral suspension at least 1 hour before or after meals.
Patients ≥ 40 kg
Loading dose (first 24 hrs): 400 mg or 10 ml every 12 hours
Maintenance dose: 200 mg or 5 ml twice daily
Patients < 40 kg
Loading dose (first 24 hrs): 200 mg or 5 ml every 12 hours
Maintenance dose: 100 mg or 2.5 ml twice daily
Use as directed by a registered physician.

✔️ Drug Interactions
- Adjust dose when used with CYP3A4, CYP2C9, and CYP2C19 inhibitors or inducers
- Candicon may increase levels of drugs metabolized by these enzymes – dose modification and monitoring are required
- Phenytoin and Efavirenz may require increasing the Candicon maintenance dosage

Long-term use has been associated with squamous cell carcinoma of the skin (SCC)
Avoid unnecessary sunlight exposure; monitor skin changes regularly
✔️ Storage:
- Shake the bottle well to loosen the powder.
- Add 25 ml of boiled and cooled water (5 spoonfuls using the provided spoon).
- Shake vigorously until fully mixed.
- Discard 14 days after preparation.
- Store reconstituted suspension at 15°–30°C.
