Oxizol 1% Cream is an antifungal medication. It effectively controls fungal infections of the skin. It disrupts the fungal cell membrane by blocking the production of certain chemicals (ergosterol) within the cell which is required for its survival. As a result, it stops the fungal cell from multiplication, thereby managing the further spread of infection.
Possible side effects include itching, burning, irritation, allergic contact dermatitis, folliculitis, redness, papules, fissures, maceration, rash, stinging, and nodules.
Oxiconazole is used in the treatment of fungal skin infections.
Oxizol contains Oxiconazole Nitrate, an antifungal agent belonging to the imidazole class. It works by inhibiting the biosynthesis of ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes, leading to the disruption of the fungal cell's structure. Oxiconazole is effective against a wide variety of pathogenic fungi, including Epidermophyton floccosum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton rubrum, and Malassezia furfur. Additionally, it shows favorable activity in vitro against strains of Microsporum audouini, Microsporum canis, Microsporum gypseum, Trichophyton tonsurans, and Trichophyton violaceum.
For tinea pedis, tinea corporis, or tinea cruris, the cream should be applied to the affected area and surrounding skin once or twice daily. For tinea versicolor, apply the cream once daily. Treatment duration is generally 2 weeks for tinea corporis, tinea cruris, and tinea versicolor, and 4 weeks for tinea pedis to prevent recurrence.
