Aluminium Hydroxide + Magnesium Hydroxide + Simethicone belongs to a class of medications known as antacids, and it is utilized to treat conditions such as acidity, heartburn, indigestion, gastritis (inflammation of the stomach), and stomach discomfort. Normally, the stomach is shielded from the effects of acid by a protective mucous layer. However, in certain instances, excessive acid production can erode this mucous layer, resulting in issues like acidity and heartburn.
This combination medication contains three active ingredients: Aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and simethicone. Aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide are classified as antacids, while simethicone is an antiflatulent. Aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide function by neutralizing surplus stomach acid. Simethicone works by reducing the surface tension of gas bubbles, making it easier for gas to be expelled through belching or flatulence. Simethicone also helps prevent the accumulation and formation of gas in the digestive tract.
It is essential to take Aluminium Hydroxide + Magnesium Hydroxide + Simethicone exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Continue taking this medication for the duration recommended by your doctor, which depends on your specific medical condition. Some common side effects that may occur include constipation, reduced appetite, weakness, and diarrhea. Most of these side effects do not necessitate medical intervention and tend to subside gradually over time. However, if you experience persistent side effects, it is advisable to consult your doctor.
Prior to taking Aluminium Hydroxide + Magnesium Hydroxide + Simethicone, inform your doctor if you have low phosphate levels, elevated magnesium levels, or if you have kidney or liver problems. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using this medication. Aluminium Hydroxide + Magnesium Hydroxide + Simethicone is not recommended for use in children, as its safety in this population has not been established. Additionally, it is advisable to refrain from consuming alcohol while taking this medication, as it may exacerbate acidity-related issues.
Avoid alcohol consumption while taking Entacyd PLUS Suspension. Alcohol can stimulate increased stomach acid production, potentially exacerbating acidity and heartburn.
The safety of Entacyd PLUS Suspension during pregnancy is not well established. It is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy unless considered essential by your doctor. Your healthcare provider will assess the benefits and potential risks before recommending this medication.
If you are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking Entacyd PLUS Suspension. Your healthcare provider will evaluate whether it is suitable for breastfeeding mothers, weighing the benefits against any potential risks.
Entacyd PLUS Suspension does not have any reported interactions that affect driving. However, if you experience any difficulties or side effects that may impair your ability to drive safely, discuss this with your doctor.
If you are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking Entacyd PLUS Suspension Your healthcare provider will evaluate whether it is suitable for breastfeeding mothers, weighing the benefits against any potential risks.
If you have a history of liver or kidney impairment, or if you have concerns related to your liver or kidneys, consult your doctor before taking Entacyd PLUS Suspension. Your healthcare provider will assess the potential benefits and risks in such cases.
Acidity, Heartburn, Indigestion, Gastritis (inflammation of the stomach), Stomach upset
The combination Entacyd PLUS Suspension comprises three active components: Aluminum hydroxide (an antacid), magnesium hydroxide (an antacid), and simethicone (an antiflatulent). Aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide function by neutralizing excessive stomach acid. Simethicone, on the other hand, operates by reducing the surface tension of gas bubbles within the digestive system. This action facilitates the expulsion of gas through belching or flatulence (passing gas) and helps to prevent the accumulation and formation of gas within the gastrointestinal tract.
Gastrointestinal side effects are uncommon with Entacyd Plus. In some cases, excessive consumption may lead to diarrhea, constipation, or regurgitation.
Entacyd Plus is indicated for providing relief from hyperacidity associated with various conditions such as peptic ulcers, gastritis, peptic esophagitis, gastric hyperacidity, heartburn, sour stomach, and hiatus hernia. It is also effective in preventing stress ulceration and gastrointestinal bleeding. Additionally, it acts as an antiflatulent, helping to alleviate symptoms of gas, including post-operative gas pain. Entacyd Plus works by rapidly relieving acid-related pain, dispersing gastric foam, and facilitating the release of gas and air.
This medication is a combination of non-systemic acid-neutralizing substances and an antiflatulent. It provides both reliability and extended relief. Aluminum Hydroxide and Magnesium Hydroxide work by neutralizing gastric acid secreted by the stomach's parietal cells, providing relief from ulcers. Simethicone, on the other hand, is employed for its antifoam properties. It spreads over the surface of watery substances, creating a low surface tension film that causes foam bubbles to collapse. Simethicone facilitates the merging and expulsion of gas bubbles surrounded by mucus in the gastrointestinal tract.
This medication is used to treat flatulence and meteorism, aiding in the elimination of gas, air, or foam from the gastrointestinal tract before radiography. It also helps relieve abdominal distension and dyspepsia.
Simethicone is considered physiologically inert; it does not appear to be absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and therefore does not interfere with gastric secretion or nutrient absorption. After oral administration, the drug is excreted unchanged in the feces.
Take 1-2 teaspoonfuls 1-3 hours after a meal and at bedtime, or as directed by a physician.
Entacyd Plus can interact with other oral drugs. It may either increase or decrease the rate and extent of absorption of concomitantly administered oral medications. For example, antacids can decrease the bioavailability of drugs like theophylline, tetracycline, quinolone antibiotics, isoniazid, ketoconazole, ethambutol, some antimuscarinic drugs, benzodiazepines, phenothiazines, ranitidine, indomethacin, nitrofurantoin, fluoride, phosphate, propranolol, atenolol, digoxins, and vitamins, among others. Conversely, antacids can increase the bioavailability of certain drugs like sulphonamides, levodopa, valproic acid, and enteric-coated aspirin.
Entacyd Plus should not be given to patients with renal failure or hypophosphatemia, or those who are severely debilitated. It is also contraindicated in cases of alkalosis and hypermagnesemia, especially when abdominal distention may be due to partial or complete intestinal obstruction.
It is advised to avoid antacid preparations, including Entacyd Plus, during the first trimester of pregnancy.
Entacyd Plus should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease.
Keep below 30°C temperature, away from light & moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
