Heart failure is a chronic condition where the heart doesn’t pump sufficient blood to other parts of the body, which is generally characterized by symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, weakness, rapid or irregular heartbeat, and swelling in the legs, ankles, or feet.
Irregular heartbeat is a condition in which your heart beats irregularly, too fast or too slow. Symptoms of irregular heartbeat include chest pain, shortness of breath, and fast or slow heartbeat. 60 to 100 beats per minute is generally considered as normal heart rate.
Agoxin 0.25mg Tablet contains Digoxin which belongs to the group of medicines called Cardiac glycosides. It is used in the management of arrhythmias (irregular heartbeat, which causes the heart to skip a beat or beat at the wrong speed) and heart failure.
Agoxin 0.25mg Tablet is not recommended for use in patients with serious heart problems or irregular heartbeat due to cardiac glycoside intoxication).
Before taking Agoxin 0.25mg Tablet, inform your doctor if you have beriberi disease (which occurs due to vitamin B1 deficiency), severe lung disease, reduced renal function, or liver failure. Along with the management of a 0.25mg tablet of Agoxin, your doctor might advise you to take regular blood tests to determine the amount of digoxin in your blood and to check the status of kidney function, especially in patients with kidney disorders.
Agoxin 0.25mg Tablet should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Also, it should be used with caution in children and adolescents (below 18 years of age) and in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above).
You are recommended to avoid consumption of alcohol with Agoxin 0.25mg Tablet as it may increase drowsiness and reduce the amount of Agoxin 0.25mg Tablet in blood leading to abnormal heart function.
Agoxin 0.25mg Tablet should be taken with caution during pregnancy only if it is considered necessary. Consult your doctor before taking Agoxin 0.25mg Tablet.
Agoxin 0.25mg Tablet should be taken with caution in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking Agoxin 0.25mg Tablet.

Agoxin 0.25mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with hepatic failure (due to viral hepatitis). Consult your doctor before taking Agoxin 0.25mg Tablet.
Manages
The most common side effects of taking Agoxin 0.25mg Tablet are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abnormal heartbeat, and dizziness. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects get worse.
It works by correcting irregular heartbeat to a normal rhythm and increases the force with which the heart muscle contracts with every heartbeat. This makes the heart pump more efficiently and increases blood circulation throughout the body.
Take Agoxin 0.25mg Tablet as directed by your physician. It can be taken with or without meals. Swallow the medicine as a whole with a sip of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight, and health condition. Continue to take this medicine, as long as your doctor tells you to do so, to obtain better results.
Digoxin is used in the treatment of Heart failure and Arrhythmia.
Digoxin is a cardiac glycoside used in the management of particularly atrial fibrillation and heart failure. The principal actions of digoxin are an increase in the force of myocardial contraction (positive inotropic activity and a reduction in the conductivity of the heart particularly in conduction through the atrioventricular node. Digoxin also has a direct action on the smooth vascular muscle and indirect effects mediated primarily by the autonomic nervous system, particularly by an increase in vagal activity.
Oral Administration Dosage for Digoxin:
Rapid Digitalization:
- Dosage: 1-1.5 mg in divided doses over 24 hours.
- Purpose: This regimen is used when there is a need for a quick therapeutic effect, such as in acute situations.
Less Urgent Digitalization:
- Dosage: 250-500 micrograms daily (higher doses may be divided).
- Purpose: This regimen is used when a slower digitalization is appropriate, allowing the body to reach therapeutic levels of the drug gradually.
Maintenance Dose:
- Dosage: 62.5-500 micrograms daily, with higher doses possibly divided.
- Adjustments: The dose should be tailored based on renal function and the response of atrial fibrillation to heart rate control.
Usual Dosage Range:
- General Range: 125-250 micrograms daily.
- Elderly Patients: A lower dose, often within the range of 125-250 micrograms daily, may be appropriate due to reduced renal function and increased sensitivity to digoxin.
