Description:

Bromolac 2.5 contains Bromocriptine, which is a dopamine agonist. It is used to treat various hormonal disorders caused by increased levels of prolactin, such as stopping breast milk production, treating infertility problems, and managing prolactinomas (non-cancerous brain tumors). It also treats acromegaly (abnormal growth due to high growth hormone levels) and controls symptoms of Parkinson's disease.

  • Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding before starting Bromolac 2.5.
  • ICRIPTIN 2.5MG is not recommended for use in children under 16 years of age.
  • Avoid Bromolac 2.5 if you have uncontrolled hypertension or a history of heart disease, such as congestive heart failure or myocardial infarction.
  • Inform your doctor if you have:
    • High levels of glucose and ketones in your urine
    • Severe kidney or liver disease
    • Frequent urinary tract infections
    • Mental illness
    • Low blood pressure
    • Stomach or intestinal ulcers or bleeding
    • Raynaud's syndrome
  • Regular blood pressure monitoring is necessary during treatment with Bromolac 2.5.
  • Inform your doctor if you have galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption.
  • Bromolac 2.5 may cause symptomatic hypotension (dizziness, nausea, sweating, and fainting) when you stand up quickly. To avoid this, get up slowly from a lying position and rest your feet on the floor for a few minutes before standing.

Overdoage of Bromolac 2.5

Parkinson's Disease (as adjunct to levodopa):

Adult Dosage:

  • 1st week: 1-1.25 mg at night
  • 2nd week: 2-2.5 mg at night
  • 3rd week: 2.5 mg twice daily
  • 4th week: 2.5 mg three times daily, then increase as needed.
  • Maintenance: 10-40 mg/day
Hyperprolactinemia:
  • Initial: 1.25-2.5 mg daily
  • May increase by 2.5 mg/day every 2-7 days
  • Usual therapeutic dosage: 5-7.5 mg/day, ranges from 2.5-15 mg/day
  • Up to 30 mg/day has been used in some patients with amenorrhea and/or galactorrhea
Acromegaly (Parlodel):
  • Initial: 1.25-2.5 mg at bedtime for 3 days
  • May increase by 1.25-2.5 mg/day every 3-7 days
  • Not to exceed 100 mg/day
  • Adjunct to surgery and radiotherapy: Initial 2.5 mg twice daily, increase slowly up to 5 mg every 6 hours if needed
Lactation Suppression:
  • 2.5 mg/day for 2-3 days, then up to 2.5 mg twice daily for 14 days
Prevention of Puerperal Lactation:
  • 2.5 mg on the day of delivery, then 2.5 mg twice daily for 14 days
Cyclical Benign Breast and Menstrual Disorders:
  • 2.5 mg twice daily
Hepatic Impairment:
  • Dose adjustment may be necessary; there are no specific guidelines
Child Dosage:
  • Hyperprolactinemia (Ages 11-15 years):
    • Initial: 1.25-2.5 mg daily
    • Maintenance: 2.5-10 mg/day as advised by your physician
Directions for Use:

Take Bromolac 2.5 as prescribed by your physician. Swallow the tablet with water, preferably with meals. Do not crush or chew the tablet. The dosage and duration depend on your age, weight, and medical condition.
