Indication
A pair of medications are combined in Osartil Plus 100/25. Various methods are used to control high blood pressure. Untreated high blood pressure can cause heart attacks, strokes, and kidney failure. Osartil Plus 100/25 may be taken either with or without food. Your illness and how you react to the medication will determine the dosage. Try to take it every day at the same time. It is crucial to continue taking this medication unless your doctor instructs you otherwise.
Pharmacology
Angiotensin II receptor antagonists include losartan. Through selective and competitive blocking of the vasoconstriction of angiotensin II and aldosterone secretion, it selectively antagonizes the binding of angiotensin II and the AT1 receptor. As a result of hydrochlorothiazide's ability to prevent the reabsorption of sodium in the distal tubule, more sodium, water, potassium, and hydrogen ions are excreted.
Dosage & Administration
Hypertension-
Severe Hypertension:
This medication can be combined with other antihypertensive medications. This medication can be used with or without food.
Interaction
Losartan Potassium: Drug-drug pharmacokinetic interactions with Hydrochlorothiazide, Digoxin, Warfarin, Cimetidine, and Phenobarbital were not found to be significantly harmful. Similar to other drugs that block angiotensin II or its effects, concurrent use of potassium-sparing diuretics (such as Spironolactone, Triamterene, and Amiloride), potassium supplements, or salt substitutes containing potassium may result in a rise in serum potassium. The nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medicine Indomethacin can lessen the antihypertensive effects of losartan, similar to other antihypertensive medications.
Alcohol, barbiturates, and narcotics may potentiate orthostatic hypotension when used along with Thiazide diuretics.
Antidiabetic medicines (oral agents and Insulin): antidiabetic drug dosage may need to be adjusted.
Other antihypertensive drugs: potentiation or additive effect
Cholestyramine with colestipol resins: Hydrochlorothiazide absorption is hampered when anionic exchange resins are present.
Contraindications
The use of Losartan and Hydrochlorothiazide together is not advised in patients who are hypersensitive to either drug. Due to the Hydrochlorothiazide component, this drug is contraindicated in patients who have anuria or hypersensitivity to other medications derived from sulfonamides.
Side Effects
Pregnancy & Lactation
Unless absolutely necessary, angiotensin-II receptor antagonists should be avoided during pregnancy. They have been linked to prenatal and newborn blood pressure management and renal function, as well as skull abnormalities and oligo hydrinos. There is a scarcity of information on the use of angiotensin-II receptor antagonists during breastfeeding. They are not indicated while nursing, and there are alternative therapy choices with better-established safety information.
Precautions & Warnings
Storage Conditions
