Cefadroxil kills the bacteria by preventing the formation of bacterial cell walls. It stops the growth and multiplication of bacteria. Thus it treats the infection.

Adora Powder For Suspension is generally well-tolerated. However, common side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances and hypersensitivity reactions.

How to take Adora Powder For Suspension

Add water up to the mark to the Adora Powder For Suspension, and shake the contents for uniform mixing. Ensure that medicine particles are dissolved properly. Measure an appropriate dose using the measuring spoon, cup, or dropper.

Indication of Adora Powder For Suspension

Adora is indicated for the treatment of upper respiratory tract infections such as pharyngitis and tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes (group-A beta-hemolytic Streptococci) and Streptococcus pneumoniae. It is also used to treat urinary tract infections caused by E. coli, Proteus mirabilis, and Klebsiella species, as well as skin and soft tissue infections caused by Staphylococci (including penicillinase-producing bacteria) and Streptococci.

Pharmacology

Cefadroxil works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). This disrupts the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis in the bacterial cell wall, ultimately causing bacterial cell death.

Dosage & Administration of Adora Powder For Suspension

• Adults:
  • Pharyngitis and Tonsillitis: 1 g daily in one or two divided doses.
  • Urinary Tract Infections: 1-2 g daily in one or two divided doses.
  • Skin and Skin Structure Infections: 1 g daily in one or two divided doses.
• Children: 30 mg/kg daily in divided doses every 12 hours.

Adora can be taken with or without meals. Administering it with food may reduce gastrointestinal side effects.

Interaction

There are no significant interactions between Cefadroxil and other drugs.

Contraindications

• Adora is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Cefadroxil or any of its ingredients.

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Pregnancy: Classified as Category B by the US FDA. There are no well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Therefore, Cefadroxil should be used during pregnancy only if necessary.
• Lactation: Cefadroxil is excreted in breast milk, so caution is advised when administering it to breastfeeding mothers.

Precautions & Warnings

Use of Cefadroxil may lead to pseudomembranous colitis. Care should be taken when diagnosing patients who develop diarrhea while on Adora therapy.
