Indications:
Linezolid is an antibiotic that selectively inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 23S ribosomal RNA, preventing the formation of a functional 70S initiation complex in the bacterial ribosome. It has activity against Gram-positive aerobic bacteria, some Gram-positive anaerobic bacteria, and certain Gram-negative bacteria.

Linezolid is classified as Pregnancy Category C, and its use during pregnancy should be considered only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. It is not known whether Linezolid is excreted in human milk, so caution should be exercised when administered to nursing women.
