Ceftibuten is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat certain infections of the lungs, urinary tract, throat, tonsils, ears, etc. caused by susceptible bacteria. This medicine is not recommended for use in case of common cold, flu, or viral infections since it is active against infections caused by certain bacteria only.

Dosage varies based on the condition being treated:

Interaction with Theophylline & Antacid is minimal. Ranitidine may increase Ceftiben's plasma levels.
Ceftiben is contraindicated in patients with known cephalosporin allergy.
Pregnancy Category B. Caution is advised during breastfeeding. Use in pregnancy only when benefits outweigh risks.
Prolonged use may lead to resistant organisms. Dose adjustment needed in renal impairment. Caution in patients with gastrointestinal disease, particularly colitis.
