Ciprofloxacin shouldn't be taken at the same time as antacids that contain magnesium or aluminum, sucralfate, or any drugs that contain calcium, iron, or zinc. Ciprofloxacin can be taken either six or two hours before or after these products. Because the absorption of Ciprofloxacin may be significantly hindered by milk or other dairy products, Ciprofloxacin should not be used with them. However, dietary calcium consumed with a meal has no impact on how well Ciprofloxacin is absorbed.
