Indication
Levoxin 250 is an antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections. It is also used to treat infections of the urinary tract, nose, throat, skin, and soft tissues, as well as the lungs (pneumonia). It cures the infection by preventing the growth of pathogenic microorganisms. Levoxin 250 should be taken in the dose and for the duration prescribed by your doctor.
Pharmacology
Levofloxacin is a synthetic, third-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic with a broad spectrum. Chemically, levofloxacin is a chiral fluorinated carboxy quinolone. Levofloxacin acts as an antibiotic by inhibiting the enzymes required for DNA replication, transcription repair, and recombination, as well as bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase. In vitro, it is effective against a wide range of gm-ve and gm+ve bacteria.
Dosage:
The standard dose of Levofloxacin Tablets is 250 mg, 500 mg, or 750 mg taken orally every 24 hours. Levofloxacin tablets can be taken with or without food. The oral solution of levofloxacin should be taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating.
Only intravenous infusions of levofloxacin injection should be used. It should not be administered intramuscularly, intrathecally, intraperitoneally, or subcutaneously. The typical dose of Levofloxacin injection is 250 mg or 500 mg administered over 60 minutes every 24 hours, or 750 mg administered over 90 minutes every 24 hours. Because Levofloxacin injections are only intended for single use, any unused portion should be discarded. Other medications or additives should not be mixed with Levofloxacin Injection or infused through the same intravenous line.

Contraindications
Patients who have a known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients should avoid using this product.
Side Effect
This medication is generally well tolerated. Diarrhea and a slight yellow discoloration of the skin are possible side effects of beta-carotene treatment. Vitamins C and E have been linked to diarrhea and other gastrointestinal issues.

Precautions & Warnings
CNS disorders (e.g., severe cerebral arteriosclerosis, epilepsy) or other risk factors that predispose to seizures, whether known or suspected.
