• Finish the prescribed course, even if you start to feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat.
• Diarrhea may occur as a side effect. Taking probiotics along with Amoxil 500mg Injection may help. Talk to your doctor if you notice bloody stools or develop abdominal cramps.

Indication of Moxin IM/IV 500mg Injection

Moxin is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible ß-lactamase-negative strains of microorganisms, including:

• Ear, Nose, and Throat Infections: Otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis
• Lower Respiratory Tract Infections: Pneumonia, acute and chronic bronchitis, lung abscess, empyema, bronchiectasis
• Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Cellulitis, carbuncles, furunculosis, infected wounds, abscesses
• Genito-Urinary Tract Infections: Pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis
• Venereal Disease: Acute uncomplicated gonorrhea
• Dental Abscesses: Short-term therapy
• H. pylori Infection and Duodenal Ulcer Disease: In combination with clarithromycin and lansoprazole (triple therapy) to reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer recurrence

Pharmacology

Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum penicillin effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It inhibits cell wall biosynthesis, leading to bacterial lysis and death. Amoxicillin is stable in gastric acid and is rapidly absorbed after oral administration, with peak plasma concentrations reached within 1-2 hours. It is widely distributed in body tissues and fluids at varying concentrations.

Dosage & Administration of Moxin IM/IV 500mg Injection

IV/IM:

• Susceptible Infections: 500 mg every 8 hours.
• Listerial Meningitis: 2 g every 4 hours for 10-14 days with other antibiotics.

• Gout medications (allopurinol, sulphinpyrazone)
• Blood pressure/chest pain medications (diltiazem, propranolol)
• Antidepressants (fluvoxamine)
• Epilepsy medications (phenytoin, carbamazepine)
• Diuretics (furosemide)
• Heart-related medications (isoprenaline, digoxin)
• Anthelmintics (thiabendazole)
• Corticosteroids (prednisone)
• Oral contraceptives (ethinylestradiol)
• Antimanic agents (lithium)
• Anticancer drugs (interferon alfa, methotrexate)
• Stroke risk reducers (ticlopidine)

Drug-Food Interactions:

• Avoid alcohol as it may increase drowsiness.
• Avoid St. John’s Wort and caffeine-containing foods/drinks as they can affect the effectiveness of Moxin.

• Heart problems
• Overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism)
• Stomach ulcer
• Liver problems
• Seizures (fits) or convulsions
• Fever
• Viral infection
• Alcoholism
• Difficulty passing urine due to an enlarged prostate gland (in males)

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to penicillins.

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Pregnancy Category B: Use during pregnancy only if needed as animal reproduction studies are not always predictive of human response.
• Lactation: Excreted in human milk, use with caution.
