Indications
An antibiotic called Trevox is used to treat bacterial infections. Additionally, it is used to treat infections of the lungs, nose, throat, skin, and soft tissues (pneumonia). By preventing the growth of the causing microorganisms, it treats the infection. The dosage and duration of Trevox should be followed exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Pharmacology
A synthetic, broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic of the third generation is levofloxacin. Chemically speaking, levofloxacin is a chiral fluorinated carboxy quinolone. Levofloxacin prevents the activity of the enzymes bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase, which are necessary for DNA replication, transcription repair, and recombination. In vitro, it exhibits activity against a variety of gm-ve.

No quinolone should be administered through the same intravenous line with any solution that contains multivalent cations, such as magnesium. Iron, antacids, and adsorbents all interfere with levofloxacin absorption. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) use could make CNS stimulation more likely. Taking warfarin may make bleeding more likely.
Contraindications
Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to levofloxacin, quinolone antimicrobial agents, or any other component of this product should not take it.
Side Effects
Levofloxacin is well tolerated by most people. However, there are usually a few side effects.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Because the effects on the unborn child or nursing infant are unknown, levofloxacin is not recommended for use during pregnancy or nursing.
Precautions & Warnings
During the administration of Levofloxacin, the following precautions should be taken:
Levofloxacin Depending on the dosage, the injection should only be given as a slow intravenous infusion over a period of 60 or 90 minutes.
A sufficient amount of water should be consumed while taking Levofloxacin to avoid a concentrated form of urine.
During the administration of Levofloxacin, dosage adjustments should be made.
