Lasgrain 100 is a medication used to treat acute migraine attacks by improving blood flow in the brain and preventing muscle activity that triggers migraines. It effectively reduces the intensity and frequency of migraines, helping to enhance daily life and overall well-being.
Migraines were traditionally treated by constricting blood vessels, as dilation during migraines was linked to pain. However, the neurogenic hypothesis suggests that nerve activity, rather than blood vessel dilation, is the main contributor to migraine pain.
Lasmiditan, the active ingredient in Lasgrain, likely works by activating 5-HT1F receptors, reducing nerve activity linked to migraines. It selectively targets these receptors and does not affect other 5-HT or monoamine receptors.
The recommended oral dose of Lasgrain is 50 mg, 100 mg, or 200 mg, taken as needed. Only one dose should be taken in 24 hours, and the patient must wait at least 8 hours after taking it before driving or operating machinery. A second dose has not been proven effective for the same migraine attack.
Hypersensitivity
There is limited data on the effects of Lasmiditan in pregnant or breastfeeding women. It is excreted into rat milk, so caution is advised. Weigh the benefits of breastfeeding against potential risks to the infant.
