Indication of Fluticon 50mcg Nasal Spray

Fluticon 50mcg Nasal Spray is a steroid that relieves symptoms of allergic rhinitis, such as runny nose, sneezing, and sinus discomfort. It works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers that cause inflammation (swelling) and allergies, thus relieving discomfort and irritation in your nose.

Pharmacology

Fluticasone propionate produces anti-inflammatory and vasoconstrictor effects. The exact mechanism of these actions remains unknown but may involve:

• Reduction in the number of mediator cells (basophils, leukocytes, and mast cells) at the epithelial level
• Reduction in the number of eosinophils
• Decreased sensitivity of sensory nerves to mechanical stimuli
• Decreased secretory response to cholinergic receptor stimulation
• Inhibition of fibroblast activity
• Inhibition of capillary dilation and permeability
• Stabilization of lysosomal membranes and prevention of proteolytic enzyme release

Dosage of Fluticon 50mcg Nasal Spray

• Adults with Nasal Allergic Rhinitis: 2 sprays (100 mcg) in each nostril once a day, preferably in the morning. In some cases, 2 sprays into each nostril twice daily, not exceeding 4 sprays.
• Adults with Nasal Polyps: 4 sprays (200 mcg) into each nostril 1-2 times daily for at least 4-6 weeks.
• Children over 12 years with Nasal Allergic Rhinitis: 2 sprays (100 mcg) in each nostril once a day, preferably in the morning. In some cases, 2 sprays into each nostril twice daily, not exceeding 4 sprays.
• Children 4-11 years with Nasal Allergic Rhinitis: 1 spray (50 mcg) in each nostril once a day. The maximum total daily dosage should not exceed 4 sprays.
• Children >16 years with Nasal Polyps: 4 sprays (200 mcg) into each nostril 1-2 times daily for at least 4-6 weeks.

Administration of Fluticon 50mcg Nasal Spray

Use Fluticon 50mcg Nasal Spray as advised by your physician. It is for intranasal use only. Shake the bottle before every use. Your doctor will decide what quantity of dose you require at what frequency depending on the severity of the disease and your physical characteristics. Do not start or stop the medicine without consulting your doctor.

Missed & Over Dose of Fluticon 50mcg Nasal Spray

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

If you have used more than the prescribed dose of Fluticasone propionate, seek immediate medical attention.

Interaction

• This may lead to increased plasma concentrations when used with CYP4503A4 inhibitors such as ritonavir.
• Concurrent use with certain medications may alter the effectiveness of Fluticasone Propionate. Always inform your doctor about any other medications you are taking.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients.

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Pregnancy: There are limited studies in humans. Animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
• Breastfeeding: It is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggest that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
