Indications
For dry nasal films, including dry noses brought on by cold and hypersensitivity medications, sodium chloride nasal wash has been shown to be effective. It moistens dry nasal areas brought on by arid environments or by air travel, may help remove body fluid from the nose and clears the nose after surgery. Additionally, this sterile saline solution is used to clean various bodily cavities, wounds, and medical equipment like gauze, catheters, and drainage tubes. It is also used as a blending agent (diluent) for other medications that are injected into the body (e.g. bacitracin, polymyxin).
Pharmacology
Nasal wash with sodium chloride is a non-drug, isotonic saline solution used to moisturize nasal membranes. This formulation is comfortable to use for long periods of time.
Sodium Chloride 0.9 percent nasal wash moistens the inside of the nose by dissolving and softening thick or crusty mucus, making it easier to remove mucus and breathe.
