Paracetamol: Known for its analgesic (pain-relieving) and antipyretic (fever-reducing) properties, Paracetamol works mainly in the central nervous system (CNS) to elevate the pain threshold by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes (COX-1, COX-2, and COX-3) that are involved in the synthesis of prostaglandins. It is one of the safest and most widely used analgesics, well-tolerated with minimal side effects compared to aspirin.
Tramadol: A synthetic opioid analgesic that acts centrally, Tramadol's exact mechanism isn't fully understood, but it involves two primary actions: binding to μ-opioid receptors and weakly inhibiting the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin. These actions contribute to its overall analgesic effect, providing relief from moderate to moderately severe pain.
