How does Corangi Tablet work?

It works by reducing the workload of the heart. As a result, the heart muscle does not need as much blood and oxygen supply. This reduces the frequency and severity of angina attacks.

Side Effects of Corangi Tablet

• Headache
• Dizziness
• Flushed skin
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Weakness
• Rapid, uneven, or forceful heartbeat

Managing Side Effects:

• Nausea: Take the medicine with or after meals and avoid oily or spicy foods.
• Vomiting: Rest, stay hydrated, and eat when hungry. Avoid self-medication and consult a doctor if symptoms worsen.
• Headache: Stay hydrated, rest, and use pain-relieving balms if needed. Seek medical advice if headaches persist.
• Dizziness: Lie down until the sensation subsides, move slowly, and avoid smoking or alcohol consumption.

• Corangi Tablet contains Nicorandil, a potassium-channel activator used to prevent or treat angina pectoris (chest pain).
• Corangi Tablet works by opening potassium channels present in the muscle cells within the blood vessels' walls relaxing these muscle cells and widening blood vessels.
• Corangi Tablet reduces the heart's workload by making it easier for the heart to pump blood around the body and does not require much oxygen.
• Corangi Tablet helps to prevent angina by increasing oxygen and blood supply to the heart muscle by widening coronary arteries within the heart.
• Corangi is given to adults who cannot tolerate other heart medicines such as calcium antagonists or beta-blockers.

Indications:

Nicorandil is used in the treatment of Angina (heart-related chest pain).

Overdosage:

• In case of accidental overdose, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms may include weakness, dizziness, or rapid heartbeat.

Adults:

• Usual Therapeutic Range: 10 to 20 mg twice daily.
• Starting Dose: 10 mg twice daily (morning and evening). This dose can be increased based on patient needs, response, and tolerance, up to a maximum of 40 mg twice daily.
• Lower Starting Dose: 5 mg twice daily may be considered for patients particularly prone to headaches.

Elderly:

• There are no special dosage requirements for elderly patients.
• The lowest effective dose should be used, and it should be administered with care, starting with lower dosages.

Children:

• Nicorandil is not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

Patients with Hepatic Impairment:

• Nicorandil should be used with caution in patients with serious hepatic dysfunction.
• Dose reduction may be necessary depending on the severity of the hepatic condition.

Interactions:

Avoid taking vardenafil, sildenafil, tadalafil, and riociguat as these may affect blood pressure.

Contraindications

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to Nicorandil or any other medicines.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Precautions & Warnings

• Avoid alcohol consumption during Corangi Tablet treatment, as it can further decrease blood pressure.
• Not recommended for patients with severe low blood pressure, heart problems like cardiogenic shock, or lung issues such as pulmonary edema.
• Inform your doctor if you have lung problems, kidney issues, or liver disease before taking Corangi Tablet.
