By blocking the production of prostaglandins, which are chemical substances responsible for pain and inflammation, Indomet 25mg Capsule reduces inflammation and provides relief from pain.
Indomet 25mg Capsule is used to treat mild to moderate pain and swelling caused by osteoarthritis (wearing away of your bone's flexible tissues), rheumatoid arthritis (pain and swelling in joints), gout (deposition of crystals between your joints), ankylosing spondylitis (fusion of small bones in your spine).
Indomethacin works by inhibiting the activity of the cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2) which are involved in the production of prostaglandins, chemical substances that play a role in inflammation, pain, and fever. By blocking the synthesis of prostaglandins, indomethacin reduces inflammation, relieves pain, and reduces fever. Indomethacin also has some inhibitory effect on leukocyte function and platelet aggregation. These actions contribute to its anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. Indomethacin is used to treat various inflammatory and rheumatic disorders such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, and ankylosing spondylitis. It is also used to treat pain, fever, and inflammation associated with other conditions such as bursitis, tendinitis, and acute gouty arthritis.
Indomet 25mg Capsule can interact with medications such as ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirin, duloxetine, metoprolol, celecoxib, and prednisone, which are used to alleviate pain, depression, high blood pressure, and arthritis. Consumption of alcohol with an Indomet 25mg Capsule should be avoided to prevent increased drowsiness, dizziness, and stomach bleeding. Patients with heart failure, fluid retention, asthma, gastrointestinal problems, high blood pressure, hyperkalemia, thrombosis, anemia, rashes, platelet aggregation inhibition, CNS problems, kidney, and liver toxicity should not be given Indomet 25mg Capsule
Indomethacin is contraindicated in patients with ulcers, gastritis, or active ulcerative colitis, and it should be used with caution in those with a history of these conditions. In these cases, the use of Indomethacin suppositories is advised. It is also not advised for patients who have a history of hypersensitivity.
Pregnant women who are more than 32 weeks pregnant should avoid using indomethacin due to the risk of heart issues in the infant. Women with a history of ulcers, bleeding disorders, or kidney or liver disease should also avoid using indomethacin. It is important to consult with your doctor before taking any medication during pregnancy to ensure the safety of both the mother and the baby.
