Indications of Purifen Tablet
Purifen Tablet is used for the treatment of osteoarthritis signs and symptoms.
Pharmacology of Purifen Tablet
Dextroibuprofen (S (+) ibuprofen) is considered the pharmacologically active enantiomer of racemic ibuprofen. Like racemic ibuprofen, dextroibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with analgesic effect. Like ibuprofen, dextroibuprofen works by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis.
Pharmacokinetics: Dextroibuprofen is absorbed primarily from the small intestine. After metabolic conversion (hydroxylation, carboxylation) in the liver, pharmacologically inactive metabolites are completely excreted, mainly through the kidneys (90%), but also in the bile. The elimination half-life is 1.83.5 hours; the plasma protein binding rate is about 99%. Peak plasma levels are reached approximately 2 hours after oral administration. Taking dexibuprofen with meals delays the time to peak concentration (from 2.1 hours after fasting to 2.8 hours after non-fasting) and reduces the peak plasma concentration (from 20.6 to 18.1 mcg/ml, which is not clinically relevant). , But has no effect on the degree of absorption.
