NIFTRAN 100MG CAPSULE contains Nitrofurantoin, an antibiotic from the nitrofuran class, used to treat infections of the urinary tract—including those affecting the bladder, ureters, kidneys, or urethra. UTIs often present with symptoms such as:
Urgent or frequent need to urinate
Burning sensation during urination
Reduced urinary flow
Cloudy or blood-tinged urine
Lower abdominal or pelvic pain (especially in women)
Regular monitoring of liver and lung function is advised during long-term use. Nitrofurantoin may interfere with certain urine glucose tests, causing false-positive results.
Use NIFTRAN with caution in patients with:
Lung or liver disease
Anaemia or vitamin B deficiency
Diabetes
Electrolyte imbalance
Any condition causing severe physical weakness
It is not recommended in patients with severe renal impairment due to the risk of drug accumulation and reduced effectiveness.
Pregnancy: Avoid during labour and delivery due to potential risk to the newborn. Use during pregnancy only when clearly necessary and under medical advice.
Breastfeeding: Use with caution; may not be suitable for nursing infants under 3 months.
Infants: Contraindicated in babies below 3 months of age.
Elderly: Caution advised due to increased risk of side effects and potential renal function decline.

NIFTRAN is not advised during labour or delivery due to potential harm to the newborn. Use during pregnancy only on medical advice.

Liver Disease: Use under medical supervision if you have liver issues.
Lung Conditions: Caution is advised for individuals with any history of lung disease.
