Nausea is an uneasy stomach feeling that comes in waves and often precedes vomiting, where the body forcefully expels stomach contents through the mouth. Triggers include taste, anxiety, smell, pain, or stomach irritation. Cancer patients often experience nausea and vomiting after chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Controlling these symptoms is crucial for daily functioning, as unmanaged nausea and vomiting can lead to mental changes, loss of appetite, malnutrition, and dehydration.
Onaseron, a serotonin subtype 3 (5-HT3) receptor antagonist, is indicated for:
avoid consuming alcohol while taking Onaseron 8 as this medicine can interact with alcohol and may worsen the side effects.
Onaseron 8 is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy unless considered clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before taking Onaseron 8
Onaseron 8 is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking Onaseron 8.
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizzy or uneasy after taking Onaseron 8.
Onaseron 8 tablets should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult your doctor before taking Onaseron 8
Onaseron 8mg should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult your doctor before taking Onaseron 8mg.
It blocks a natural substance called serotonin in the brain that causes nausea and vomiting.
Ondansetron is a potent and highly selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. Its precise mode of action in controlling nausea and vomiting is not fully known. Chemotherapeutic agents and radiotherapy can release 5-HT in the small intestine, initiating a vomiting reflex via 5-HT3 receptors on vagal afferents. Ondansetron blocks this reflex. The release of 5-HT in the area postrema (brainstem) may also contribute to emesis through a central mechanism. Thus, ondansetron likely manages nausea and vomiting by antagonizing 5-HT3 receptors in both the peripheral and central nervous systems. The mechanism for post-operative nausea and vomiting may involve similar pathways.

To use the oral soluble film:
Onaseron does not appear to induce or inhibit the liver's cytochrome P-450 enzyme system. However, drugs that induce or inhibit these enzymes may alter Onaseron's clearance and half-life. No dosage adjustment is generally recommended for patients on such drugs.
Onaseron is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the drug or its components and in those taking apomorphine.
Animal studies have not shown evidence of harm to the fetus, but there are no adequate studies in pregnant women. Ondansetron is excreted in rat milk, so caution is advised when administering it to breastfeeding women.
Hypersensitivity reactions have been reported in patients sensitive to other 5-HT3 antagonists. Onaseron should not replace nasogastric suction in cases of gastric or intestinal peristalsis issues. It may mask progressive ileus or gastric distension post-abdominal surgery or chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.
Store below 30ºC in a dry place, protected from light and moisture.
