Ocular hypertension and glaucoma are serious eye conditions that can lead to vision loss if left untreated. Understanding the risk factors, symptoms, and treatment options for these conditions is essential for preserving vision and maintaining overall eye health. Regular eye exams and adherence to treatment plans recommended by eye care professionals are essential for managing ocular hypertension and preventing the progression to glaucoma.
Travoprost and Timolol reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) through complementary mechanisms of action. Travoprost, a prostaglandin analog, increases trabecular outflow and uveoscleral outflow, while Timolol, a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor blocker, decreases the formation of aqueous humor in the ciliary epithelium.
Common side effects of Avatan-T include eye pain, change in the color of the iris, stinging sensation, foreign body sensation, itching, irritation, burning sensation in the eye, and darkening of eyelashes.
The safety and effectiveness of Travoprost + Timolol Maleate have not been established in pediatric patients. However, no overall differences in safety and effectiveness have been observed between elderly and other adult patients.
Avatan-T should be used only in the affected eye as prescribed by the doctor. Wash your hands before using the medicine. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it, gently squeeze the dropper, and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Wipe off any extra liquid.
Instill one drop in the conjunctival sac of the affected eye(s) once daily, preferably in the evening, at about the same time each day.
Travoprost + Timolol Maleate should not be used during pregnancy as there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.
Caution should be exercised when Travoprost + Timolol Maleate is administered to a nursing mother.
Travoprost + Timolol Maleate is for ophthalmic use only. Patients should remove their contact lenses before instilling the preparation and should wait 15 minutes after instillation before reinserting their lenses.
