Indications
Tear deficit caused by impaired lacrimal secretion and functional abnormalities as a result of topical or systemic diseases or caused by deficient or incomplete eyelid closure is treated with hypromellose dye drops.
Pharmacology
Hypromellose is an ocular lubricant that is semisynthetic, inert, and viscoelastic. Hypromellose is used to treat symptomatic dehydration of the cornea and conjunctiva caused by decreased lacrimal secretion and functional abnormalities induced by topical or systemic illnesses, or caused by insufficient or partial eyelid closure.
Dosage & Administration
For adults and children: Therapy of dry eye syndrome requires an individual dosage regimen.
The usual dose of 0.3% Hypromellose is 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 3 to 5 times per day or as directed by the physician.
The dose of 0.5% Hypromellose will be different for different patients. Follow your doctor's directions.

Soft contact lens wearers should take out their lenses before taking Hypromellose and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in. If discomfort persists or worsens, or if new signs or symptoms appear, discontinue medication and seek medical advice.
