Nazin Eye Drops is a combination of (Naphazoline Nitrate 0.005% + Zinc Sulphate 0.02%). Naphazoline narrows the blood vessels in the eye, thereby reducing redness and inflammation (swelling). Zinc sulfate acts as an astringent that clears mucus from the outer surface of the eye often associated with exposure to pollen, dust, and smoke.
Nazin Eye Drops is used to treat eye conditions such as (Conjunctival decongestant, Acute and chronic non-infectious conjunctivitis, Nonspecific conjunctival irritation, Bacterial and viral conjunctivitis, Irrigation of the tear ducts, eye strain due to dust, heat, and TV viewing, antiseptic cleansing, for soothing action. It also relieves eye irritation, congestion, and redness.
Naphazoline is a sympathomimetic amine that belongs to the imidazoline derivative class, and it causes vasoconstriction by activating alpha-adrenergic receptors found in the arterioles of the conjunctiva and nasal mucosa. Zinc sulfate, on the other hand, acts as an astringent due to the presence of zinc ions, which have tissue-sealing and antiseptic properties. When combined, naphazoline and zinc sulfate work together to reduce conjunctival irritation and edema by constricting blood vessels. This is achieved by naphazoline binding to a-adrenergic receptor sites directly on unstriated muscle cells in blood arteries.
Adults: 1 drop in the conjunctival sac, three to 4 times per day.
Children: Naphazoline nitrate and Zinc sulfate drops have not been studied in children. Generally, in children, the dosage of vasoconstrictors should be low and selected with caution.
Naphazoline-containing items should not be used while using MAO-blockers or for the first 10 days after stopping the medication. Concurrent usage of tricyclic antidepressants may enhance the effects of Naphazoline.
Hypersensitivity to zinc sulfate, Naphazoline, and other ingredients. Nazin is contraindicated in patients suffering from narrow-angle glaucoma, dry eye, and especially keratoconjunctivitis sicca (Sjogren's syndrome). Nazin must not be used in infants.
