- Bacterial eye infections
✔️ Side Effects of Tget D Eye Drops
- Gatifloxacin: Chemosis, redness, dry eye, itching, swelling of the eyelid, reduced visual acuity
- Dexamethasone: Elevation of intraocular pressure, delayed wound healing, posterior subcapsular cataract formation
✔️ Each ml of sterile eye drops contains:
- Gatifloxacin 3 mg (as Gatifloxacin Sesquihydrate INN)
- Dexamethasone Phosphate 1 mg (as Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate USP)
✔️ Quick Suggestions:
- Sleep for at least six to eight hours to rejuvenate your eyes naturally.
- Wash your eyes with clean water at least two to three times a day
- Manage stress, eat healthily, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly, and get plenty of sleep.
- Avoid alcoholic beverages as it can make you dehydrated and affect your sleep. This effect can also affect your body’s ability in fighting off infections.
- Reduce screen time (by avoiding watching TV, or phone) and use sunglasses while going out into the sunlight.
✔️ Bacterial eye infections:
Bacterial eye infections are the common eye problems seen in a primary care setting. The common eye problems are conjunctivitis (inflammation of the conjunctiva), style (bump on the eyelid), and keratitis (inflammation of the cornea). The risk for eye infection is high in post-operative patients or patients who have undergone Lasik, cataract, or other eye surgeries.
✔️ Pharmacology
- Gatifloxacin: Inhibits DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, essential enzymes for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, and repair, leading to bactericidal activity.
- Dexamethasone: Inhibits phospholipase A2, the first step in prostaglandin synthesis, and prevents chemotactic infiltration of neutrophils at inflammation sites. It is 30 times more anti-inflammatory and 8-10 times more therapeutically effective than hydrocortisone, with anti-allergic, anti-exudative, and anti-proliferative properties.
✔️ Dosage & Administration of Tget D Eye Drops
Instill 1-2 drops into the conjunctival sac 3 to 4 times daily.
Children: Safety and effectiveness not established.
✔️ Potential interactions may occur with:
- Antacids (containing aluminum, calcium, and magnesium)
- Digoxin
- Probenecid
- Vitamins (containing zinc, calcium, magnesium, or iron)
Specific drug interaction studies with Dexamethasone have not been conducted.

Contraindicated in:
- Fungal disease of ocular structures
- Viral conjunctivitis
- Hypersensitivity to any components of the formulation

- Pregnancy: Use only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
- Lactation: Gatifloxacin or Dexamethasone may be excreted in human milk. Use with caution.

- Monitor intraocular pressure if used for 10 days or more.
- Prolonged steroid use may result in glaucoma or other ocular damage.
- May exacerbate the severity of viral infections.
- Use cautiously in patients with a history of herpes simplex.
- Overdose through local or accidental oral administration is unlikely to be life-threatening.

Store in a cool, dry place away from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not touch the dropper tip to surfaces to avoid contamination. Discard the dropper one month after the first opening.
