Betamethasone valerate BP and neomycin sulfate BP cream is a combination medication that contains an active topical corticosteroid and a broad-spectrum topical bactericidal aminoglycoside drug. Betamethasone valerate BP can produce a rapid response in inflammatory skin diseases and cure psoriasis-type skin diseases. Neomycin sulfate BP is effective against various types of Gram-negative and Gram-positive pathogens such as Proteus and Staphylococcus aureus.
In adults
Etameson-N cream should be applied to the affected skin area as a thin layer 3 to 4 times daily. In chronic conditions, withdrawal of treatment is carried out by decreasing the frequency of application until the cream is applied as infrequently as once a week.
For children
Should not be used on children under 1 year of age. A course of treatment for a child should not normally last more than 5 days unless otherwise stated by the physician.
No significant drug interactions have been reported for betamethasone valerate BP and neomycin sulfate BP cream/ointment BP.
Betameson-N cream is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to any of its ingredients. It should not be used to treat otitis externa when the tympanic membrane is perforated. Skin damage caused by viral and fungal infections is also prohibited.
