Clovate N Cream is a combination medication containing Nystatin, Clobetasol Propionate, and Neomycin Sulphate. It belongs to the group of medicines called Corticosteroids, Antifungals, and Antibiotics. It is primarily used to treat dermatoses (skin infections) that are resistant and have secondary bacterial or fungal infections.
However, there are certain conditions and precautions to consider before using Clovate N Cream :
It is not recommended for use in patients with rosacea, acne vulgaris, perioral dermatitis, perianal and genital pruritus, viral infections (such as herpes simplex and chickenpox), and perforated eardrum. It is important to contact your doctor before applying the cream.
Use Clovate N Cream with caution in patients with liver or kidney disease. It is advisable to consult your doctor before applying.
In pregnancy, Clovate N Cream is generally not recommended unless considered clearly necessary. For breastfeeding women, it is unknown whether the medication may pass through breast milk, so consulting your doctor is important before applying.
Clovate N Cream is not recommended for use in children under 2 years of age. It is essential to contact your doctor before applying.
Dosage adjustment is not required for the geriatric population, but greater sensitivity in some older individuals cannot be ruled out. It is always advisable to consult your doctor before applying.
The most common side effects of Clovate N Cream include skin rash, itching, redness, burning sensation, and contact dermatitis. If any of these symptoms worsen, it is recommended to contact your physician.

Psoriasis, Eczema, Severe inflammatory skin disorders
Long-term widespread application or widespread treatment, similar to other topical corticosteroids, may result in sufficient systemic absorption and the symptoms of hypercortisolism. If an occlusive dressing is used, infants and young children are more likely to experience this effect. In particular, when the use of occlusive dressings or skin folds is impacted, intensive and prolonged treatment with highly active corticosteroid preparations can result in local atrophic changes in the skin, such as thinning, stretch marks, and superficial vasodilation. Topical steroids have reportedly been linked to hirsutism and changes in pigmentation.
Clobetasol is a highly active corticosteroid that has topical anti-inflammatory action brought about partly by vasoconstriction and reduced collagen synthesis. Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that binds to ribosomal 30S and 50S subunits of susceptible bacteria, thus inhibiting protein synthesis; it also causes misreading of the genetic codes on the mRNA template. Nystatin works by binding to ergosterol in the cell membrane of fungus resulting in a change in the cell wall permeability and leakage of cellular components.
Clovate N Cream is used to treat resistant dermatoses (skin infections) with secondary bacterial or fungal infection
A topical corticosteroid with high potency is clobetasol propionate. It functions as a vasoconstrictor, anti-inflammatory, and antipruritic. Through a variety of anti-inflammatory effects, it prevents late-phase allergic reactions. Chemotaxis, eosinophil activation, and mast cell density are all decreased. Additionally, it lessens the production of cytokines and inhibits arachidonic acid metabolism.
The administration instructions for Clovate N Cream are as follows:
For adults:
For children (2 years and older):
Please note that it is important to follow the instructions provided by your doctor or healthcare professional regarding the specific usage and duration of treatment with Clovate N Cream.
After significant systemic absorption, neomycin sulfate can intensify and prolong the respiratory depression caused by neuromuscular blockers. Neomycin sulfate's systemic exposure is anticipated to be minimal when used as directed, and significant drug interactions are highly unlikely. There have been no reports of harmful interactions between nystatin and clobetasol propionate.
The drug is contraindicated in rosacea, acne vulgaris, and perioral dermatitis, primary skin viral infections (for example, herpes simplex, chickenpox), and those who are allergic to the preparation.
There is little data to prove the possible effects of topical neomycin on pregnancy and lactation. However, neomycin present in maternal blood can cross the placenta and, in theory, may pose risks of fetal toxicity, so its use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended. The safety of clobetasol propionate in nursing mothers has not been established.
Long-term continuous topical treatment should be avoided as much as possible, especially in infants and children, because adrenal suppression is prone to occur even in the absence of occlusion. If applied to the eyelids, care must be taken to ensure that the preparation does not get into the eyes as it can cause glaucoma. If this medicine gets into your eyes, flush the affected eyes well with plenty of water.
Clovate N Cream should be stored at or below room temperature, away from direct heat or sunlight. Do not freeze. Also, keep it away from the reach of pets and children.
