It is also effective against Pityriasis versicolor, nail- and skin-candidiasis, angular stomatitis, and otitis externa. Additionally, it has an antibacterial effect on Gram-positive bacteria.
Miconazole is an imidazole antifungal agent that inhibits the formation of ergosterol and alters the cell wall permeability of susceptible fungi. It is also active against some gram-positive bacteria, Cryptococcus neoformans, Pseudalescheria boydii, and other microorganisms. Hydrocortisone, a synthetic glucocorticoid, has anti-inflammatory, vasoconstrictive, antimycotic, and antipruritic effects, which help to reduce skin irritation.
