Saccharomyces boulardii is a probiotic. It works by restoring the balance of good bacteria in the intestine that may get upset after antibiotic use or due to intestinal infections.

Quick Suggestions:

• Avoid taking Saccharomyces boulardii along with steroids (medications that weaken the immune system) as they might increase the chances of getting sick.
• Notify your doctor if you are pregnant.
• Notify your doctor if you are breast-feeding.
• Take Saccharomyces boulardii at least 2 hours before or after antibiotics. This is because taking Saccharomyces boulardii along with the antibiotics can reduce their effectiveness.

Indication of Bolardi 250

Bolardi 250 is used to treat and prevent diarrhea, including:

• Rotaviral diarrhea in children
• Acne
• Antibiotic-associated diarrhea
• Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea
• Helicobacter pylori infection
• Traveler’s diarrhea
• Diarrhea in people with HIV/AIDS
• Necrotizing enterocolitis (a serious intestinal disease in premature infants)

Pharmacology

Bolardi 250 contains the friendly microorganism Saccharomyces boulardii, which helps combat disease-causing organisms in the gut, such as yeast and bacteria. It works by:

• Restoring the balance of intestinal bacterial flora
• Strengthening immunity and overall gut health

Dosage & Administration of Bolardi 250

Adults:

• For diarrhea associated with the use of antibiotics: 250-500 mg two to four times a day.
• For diarrhea caused by Clostridium difficile: 1 gram daily for 4 weeks along with antibiotic treatment.
• For reduction in symptoms of acute diarrhea: 250 mg twice a day for 5 days.
• For diarrhea in Crohn's disease: 250 mg three times daily for up to 9 weeks.
• For diarrhea in ulcerative colitis: 250 mg three times daily.
• For treatment of infections due to Helicobacter pylori: 250-500 mg twice daily in addition to usual treatment.
• For diarrhea in Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS): 250 mg twice daily.
• For traveler's diarrhea: 250 mg per day.

Children:

• For reduction in symptoms of acute diarrhea (over three months): 250 mg twice daily for five days.
• For reduction in symptoms of acute diarrhea (under three months): 125 mg twice daily for five days.

Interaction

• Drug-Drug Interactions: Bolardi 250 may interact with antifungal medications such as fluconazole, caspofungin, itraconazole, and amphotericin.
