Neem is used in Ayurvedic medicine for skin diseases, leprosy, inflammation, infections, fever, and purification of blood. It is also used antiseptic, astringent, and anthelmintic. Neem is mentioned in most Ayurvedic formulations for the treatment of skin disorders because of its detoxifying properties. The growth of acne-causing bacteria such as Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) and staphylococcus epidermidis is also inhibited by Neem.

- Neem bark: A paraffin alcohol-sugiol, oxyphenol nimbiol, nimbosterol, nimbolin A and nimbolin B.
- Neem leaves: It’s mainly yield the flavonoid quercetin and nimbosterol, as well as a number of limonoids. Quercetin, a polyphenolic flavonoid, is known to have antibacterial and antifungal properties.
